Mr. Zhang was born in Changsha in 1960, graduated from normal college in 1978 and worked as a teacher and then in the library for many years after graduation. He established BROAD in 1988, successfully led the team for the development of China’s first pressure-free hot water boiler and also China’s first direct-fired absorption chiller in 1992, which takes lithium bromide solution for a refrigerant agent. Successfully entered into the international market in 1998, BROAD mega-sized absorption chillers have been exported to more than 30 countries. BROAD has become No.1 brand globally in the same industry. In 2000, BROAD developed the first power heat recovery exhaust chiller in the world and the world’s first micro gas air conditioning in 2003. Mr. Zhang has been dedicated 70% of his time in the past years to R & D of product, fabrication, air conditioning, a/c operation technologies and other innovations. More than 40 patented technologies were developed by Mr. Zhang, so in 2002 he was awarded one of “China’s Top 10 Private Entrepreneurs”, and was regarded as one of China’s MVP (Most Valuable Person). In 2004, he was the sole recipient of the "China-Europe Sustainability Award", and was awarded “2004 Business Innovation Award”. He believes in the truth: only through responsible usage can technology benefit human beings and he sticks to the philosophy “Technology serving the environment”. He does whatever he can for minimizing polluted products, and resisting the temptation from the short-term benefit. He believes in "Farming Law" in management and gives staff correct guidance on the relationship between dedication and payback.

。1978年就读于师范专科学校，毕业后任教和图书馆工作多年。1988年创办远大，主持开发成功中国第一台无压热水锅炉。1992年主持开发成功中国第一台直接以燃料为能源、溴化锂为冷媒的吸收式制冷制热设备（直燃机）。1998年起主持开发国际市场，远大大型吸收式制冷制热设备陆续销往30多个国家，成为全球同行业第一品牌。2000年主持开发成功全球第一台发电机尾气制冷设备，2003年主持开发成功全球第一台家用燃气空调。多年来，他用70%的精力领导工程师从事产品技术、制造技术、空调系统技术、空调运行管理研究与创新，他本人先后发明40多项专利技术。2002年被评为中国十大民营企业家，2003年被评为中国10位最有价值的卓越商业领袖，2004年获得“中国欧洲关系促进奖”和“中国商业创新大奖”。他坚信只有负责地使用技术，才有益于人类，他坚持“科技以环境为本”，只做有助于降低污染的产品，绝不为短期利益所诱。在管理思想上，他信奉“农场法则”，引导员工正确认识付出与回报的关系。
