Gregory Balestrero is chief executive officer of the Project Management Institute, a professional association with more than 260,000 members in 170 plus countries worldwide. PMI has almost tripled in size since he became its leader in 2002. His strategic goals are to gain global acceptance for the profession of project management, and to make business, government, and other organizations aware of the superior performance it can bring to their activities. After training as an industrial engineer at the Georgia Institute of Technology and service in the U.S. Army, Mr. Balestrero was executive director of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), then executive director of the Construction Specifications Institute. He has also been board chair of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE), and is a member of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is quoted frequently in national and international media and has appeared as a guest on news and business television, including CNBC and the BBC. In 2004, the Chinese government honored Mr. Balestrero with the Friendship Award, to recognize the outstanding contribution of PMI under his leadership to China’s economic development.
贝格雷先生是项目管理协会(PMI)的CEO。PMI是在170多个国家拥有超过26万名会员的专业协会。他于2002年担任CEO后，PMI的会员人数增长了约三倍。他的战略目标是让项目管理专业获得全球认可，使政府、企业和其他机构认识到项目管理能创造优良业绩。在佐治亚州理工学院接受工业工程师教育及在美军服役后，他曾先后担任美国工业工程协会（IIE）和美国建筑规范研究院的执行理事、大华盛顿地区协会执行官联合会（GWSAE）的董事会主席。他还是美国工程及科学主管理事会（CESSE）、美国商会百人委员会、美国高级主管协会（ASAE）、美国机械工程师学会（ASME）的成员。他曾多次被美国和国际媒体报导，并曾在包括CNBC和BBC在内的新闻和商业电视台中担任嘉宾。在2004年，中国政府授予贝格雷先生“友谊奖”，以表彰他所领导的PMI为中国经济建设作出的突出贡献。
